S49 - Vale (Miller Memorial)

Normally a sleepy small town gravel strip with no services. Every once in a while they have an open house and find raiser. If you have the chance do not miss it. Of course there will be the usual fly-in breakfast and lunch. There will also be old tractors and gas farm machinery running and a small airmens museam. Be sure to save the time for the local van tours. The town of Vale is chock full of building murals depicting the towns Oregon trail roots. Then they will take you out to see the trail ruts first hand.

When you are done with the fin on the ground, be sure to fly low to the north east to Baker and follow the Oregon Trail as it passes just to the west of Hells Canyon. Try to imagine the true grit that journey took.

The 2006 open house and fundraiser will be 20 May.
