R03/Alkali Lake State

You want a runway you can not miss in the middle of absolutely nowhere? You want to the ultimate is solitude? Then Alkali Lake is the place for you. 6100 feet long and 150 feet wide. The ODA says the runway is in poor condition but it looked pretty good to me, hardpack gravel rolled very flat. You could land a 737 on it with room to spare. Once you are down all there is to enjoy is a lot of nothing. Not even a telephone pole on the skyline. Just flat sage brush land for miles in all directions. It is just off US Highway 395, but you could sit in the middle of the road for a long time before any vehicle comes by.
