KSPBKSPB - ScappooseScappoose reminds me a bit of what a suburban airport should be, a bit like Aurora. Spacious runway just off the beuty of the lower Columbia River. A friendly little place great for airplane watching. On the ramp next to the transient parking are several airplane builders. If the hanger doors are open take a peekl in and you will often get a pleasant surprise. The make persoanl jets out of carbon fiber. When you are finished gawking, look both ways then hustle across the runway to the south side. Keep walking 100 yards to the Scappoose Creek Inn a pleasant Bed and Breakfast. Walk up the driveway, past the llamas and chickens, to the restaurant, sometimes called the Barnstormers Inn for a pleasant meal. Breakfast is only serverd on Sundays so be sure to check their hours before you head over. Another good reason to drop in is that Transwestern Aviation usually has the cheapest gas in the state. There is often a line at the gas pump on the weekends and that is always a great way to mingle with fellow pilots while waiting. Airnav - KSPB ODA - KSPB
