BDN - Bend Airport (formerly S07 and AEB)

2 August 2006: The airport is now BDN.

1 May 2006: check you NOTAMs. There will be night closures summer 2006 and summer 2007 for
runway relocation.

13 April 2006: There is now an AWOS on the field: 134.425 MHa and (541) 382-1477. There is
now self serve gas on the North side of the transient parking.

My home airport. To be honest not a good destination for a day trip. There are rental cars available on the field at The Flight Shop, but no crew cars. The airport is several miles out of town and there is no place to eat and nothing to see at the airport. If you are looking to visit the area you will be much happier at S21/Sunriver.

As someone pointed out, the Columbia and Epic Aircraft factories are both on the Bend field. You could call them to try to get factory tours, but my personal experience is that it is hard to get in the doors of both since they are so busy growing. Both have refused to open their doors to the public during the local airport open house days despite repeated requests. Maybe if they think you are ready to buy a new plane they are great guys.

The City of Bend has received an application for a restaurant on the field in the second floor of the Flight Services building. So with luck their will be good food on the field by Summer 2006.

Two events are planned for the airport this summer. Central Oregon Fly Safe Clinic will be on the field 2/3 June 2006. The Bend Aviation Day will be on the field 17 June 2006. The usual EAA pancake breakfast, and community airplane grope. Plan to attend both.
