7S37S3 - Starks Twin OaksOne of the more challenging airports in the Portland area. The strip is one way with a 1.5% slope upwards in the landing direction. Usually a downslope is a good thing in the take off direction but you find yourself after lift off at the bottom of a wash and then encounter rising terrain. Not an unsafe airport, but one to be treated with respect. Like all one way runways the use of your radio and eyeballs is essential. Last time I was there a 152 that was not on the radio started to take runway 20 while another plane was 100 feet up on final for 02. Luckily the 152 turned on its radio as it took the runway and heard the message load and clear to STOP. There is not much on the field for a transient pilot, except cheap avgas. Often the prices are as good as at Scapppose. Starks Twin Oaks - 7S3 Airnav - 7S3 ODA - 7S3
